(State of Osun)
Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme is a revolving 2-year volunteers scheme introduced by government of the Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola in December 2010 in fulfillment of his campaign promises to engage 20,000 Osun youths within the first 100 days of his administration.
The OYES scheme has engaged more than 60,000 youths since inception.
The OYES volunteers upon completion of training are divided into different deployments such as: Public Works Brigade, Green Gang, Farmers Brigade, Sheriff Guard, Traffic Marshall, Paramedics, Sanitation Czar and Teachers Corp and are thereafter deployed to productive services in these identified areas of our socio-economic life.
OYES is a revolving volunteer’s scheme designed to eliminate the frustration and paralyzing effect of unacceptably high and seemingly intractable youth unemployment pervasive in Osun nay, Nigeria. It aims at creating a bridge to employment by equipping as many young men and women; our new youth, with positive work ethics and culture, self sustenance, resourcefulness and respect for the environment. It is designed to develop youths with Character and Competence (the 2 Cs) – infusing them with HONOUR AND INTEGRITY IN LIFE … the virtues of an Omoluwabi.
